This February, Lynwood Unified is proud to recognize Career Technical Education (CTE) Month by highlighting some of the hands-on programs and electives offered to empower middle school scholars to begin exploring potential careers and prepare for postsecondary success.
At Cesar Chavez and Hosler middle schools, students can experience a variety of career-based electives that provide them with academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in their future careers.
Project Lead The Way course offerings include app creators, computer science, biomedical detectives, engineering, robotics, flight and space, design and modeling, and more. Other hands-on electives include film production, financing and e-sports. Both schools also offer the Paxton Patterson Lab, which provides hands-on experience in STEM career fields.
"I feel really lucky to come to a school that offers all these opportunities to me and my peers," Hosler Middle School student Jayden Diaz said. "I feel like all these things I'm learning now are going to be little stepping stones for when I'm older, and I feel really lucky to be here."
